Protection Options
At Freedom Wheels Car Rentals, we want you to enjoy your trip with complete peace of mind. Every rental includes basic insurance coverage, and we offer additional protection that can significantly reduce your financial responsibility in the event of damage or loss.
Included Insurance
All rental vehicles include third-party liability insurance, which covers damage or injury caused to other people, vehicles, or property in the event of an accident.
This coverage is required by law and is included in the price of your rental.
Please note that this coverage does not protect the rental vehicle itself. The protection option listed below is available to reduce the renter’s financial responsibility for damage to or loss of the rental vehicle. Applicable protection coverage, liability limits, exclusions, add-ons, and security deposit amounts are confirmed in the Rental Agreement.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) + Fire & Theft Protection
The optional Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces the renter’s financial responsibility if the rental vehicle is damaged in a collision or affected by fire or theft during the rental period. This protection is recommended for renters seeking reduced financial exposure and added peace of mind while driving in Saint Lucia.
Pricing: $20 USD per day
Renter Liability:
When this protection is selected and not voided under the Rental Agreement Terms & Conditions, the renter’s maximum financial responsibility for
covered damage or loss is limited to:
Collision damage: up to $2,500 USD
Fire damage: up to $2,500 USD
Vehicle theft: up to $2,500 USD
Damage or loss exceeding these amounts may be subject to the vehicle’s applicable insurance policy, in accordance with the insurer’s terms, conditions, and exclusions.
Not Included:
This waiver does not cover:
- Tyre damage
- Windscreen damage
- Interior damage
Damage caused by negligence, reckless driving, intoxication, unauthorized drivers, or any breach of the Rental Agreement will result in the protection coverage becoming void, and the renter will remain fully responsible for the cost of damage or loss, up to the full value of the vehicle.
Credit Card Insurance Coverage
Some credit cards may offer rental vehicle insurance.
Customers who choose to rely on their credit card coverage must ensure that:
- The coverage is valid in Saint Lucia
- The rental is paid in full using the eligible credit card
- The renter meets all requirements set by the card provider
Please note: Credit card coverage typically applies only to damage to or theft of the rental vehicle. It generally does not cover third-party liability, personal injury, administrative fees, loss of use, or other rental-related charges.
Coverage varies by provider and may not be guaranteed.
Customers who decline our protection option and rely on credit card coverage remain fully responsible for any damages or charges during the rental, up to the full value of the vehicle.
We recommend confirming coverage details directly with your credit card provider before your rental.
For peace of mind and full coverage, we recommend selecting our protection option.
Tyre, Windscreen & Interior Protection (Add-on)
Certain parts of a vehicle are often excluded from standard protection options because they are more susceptible to minor damage during normal driving conditions.
For additional protection, renters may choose the Tyre, Windscreen & Interior Protection add-on.
Price:
$6 per day
Covers:
When selected and applicable, this add-on reduces the renter’s financial responsibility for covered tyre, windscreen, and eligible interior damage to a maximum of $100 USD per incident.
Important Notes
Protection options will become void in cases involving:
- Reckless or dangerous driving
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Unauthorized drivers
- Violations of the rental agreement
- Any action that breaches the rental agreement and terms and conditions
Applicable protection coverage, liability limits, exclusions, add-ons, and security deposit amounts are confirmed in the Rental Agreement.
